BEHIND THE SCENES
It’s Friday and what is up at Lange? Before we say thank you for this week and welcome the weekend, here is a word from Lange Publishers Publishing Manager Lilith.
THE STORYMATIC!
Let’s get creative together!
Every week we will give you a storytelling task at our private Facebook group.
This gives you excellent practice to create and just be in the flow.
How you tell the story is up to you. Write it, draw it, act it, sing it!
You only get one week to complete your storytelling because next week, new cards!
You can write, draw, act or sing a story for someone based on your imagination!
If you want you can share your stories here or in our safe and NEW private creative group.
You can save all your creatives and see how many stories you came up with during a period of time!
This sharing doesn’t have to be in writing, if you would like to sing the story or draw or act it, it’s OK too. And you can create in any language you want! The important task here is to create without fear.
There are only two rules!
- Your main character should change from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. It doesn’t have to be a big change.
- Keep your main character alive.
The first rule is that change is interesting! Maybe your character learns something during the story or tries something new and is a little different because of it.
The second rule is that it’s easy to kill off a character when you don’t know what else to do. Keeping your character alive can be a challenge – which is the point of the rule.
We will always draw two cards that will describe the character. This can be for example “pirate” and “person who must take care of an egg” Your character is a pirate who must take care of an egg. And the next word – is a card that will lead the story, for example, “lost”.
There is a story in those cards!
Is the pirate lost?
Did the pirate lose the egg?
Why does the pirate need to take care of an egg?
What is the pirate’s name?
To ask WHY when you create a story is very important! Why do you choose to create that particular story?
Remember you can tell your story however you want. Write it, act it, draw it, sing it!
This week’s cards are:
Yellow card = Character
Soldier
Someone with wings
Blue card = The lead of the story
Seriously overdue library book
Every week we will post new cards for the week and sometimes we will make the task different.
So keep your pencil and mind sharp and your eyes open!
Have fun!
Hope to see your creations.
And oh, before we go! Please share this with anyone who may be interested in doing this and of course, kids can do this too! And remember that you can write or act in any language you want.
We hope as many people as possible will join our creative group and get creative and get inspired.
